The USDA forecasts a an 8% increase in Mexico's blueberry production in 2024, reaching 81,000 tons, due to adequate water supply and increased export demand. The berry sector is well-prepared for water shortages from droughts, thanks to advanced irrigation technologies, private reservoirs, and operating funds. Despite a projected 10% reduction in volumes for the 2024/2025 campaign, blueberries remain a significant agricultural export for Mexico, with the United States accounting for nearly 97% of these exports. The sector is expected to benefit from tariff-free access to the US and Canada under the T-MEC trade agreement.
