Uzbekistan's potato production saw a 4.8% increase in 2022, reaching over 3.4 million tons, as reported by the State Statistics Committee. Despite the increased production, wholesale potato prices in the country remained stable from mid-July 2022 to the end of the year. However, a sudden price hike was observed in early January 2023 due to unusual cold weather, only to decrease again by 10% by the end of the month. Additionally, Uzbekistan's imports of marketable potatoes are projected to decrease by 4% - 6% by the end of 2022, maintaining a zero VAT regime for import and sale throughout the year.
