Vietnam is set to export 150,000 doses of its African swine fever vaccine to the Philippines, despite the vaccine not having international approval. The Philippine government has ordered 600,000 doses in total. Vietnam became the first country to approve two African swine fever vaccines for domestic use in July 2023, but neither has been internationally approved. The company, AVAC Vietnam, is seeking approval in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Myanmar, and Nigeria. The vaccine has already been used in the Philippines for evaluation and in Vietnam, where it has been effective but its safety and efficacy are still under debate.
