In the first eight months of 2024, Vietnam has seen a significant increase in its tea exports, reaching 92,800 tons and generating 162.62 million USD, surpassing the previous year's figures. Exported to over 70 countries, with Pakistan being the largest market, there has been notable growth in demand from China and the US. Despite the high export volume to China, the export price was relatively low at 1,458 USD/ton, while the US market saw a doubling of import spending to nearly 8 million USD. The global tea market is on a growth trajectory, expected to reach 37.5 billion USD in 2025, driven by lifestyle changes and increased consumer awareness of health benefits. To enhance its market share, the Vietnamese tea industry is advised to improve productivity and quality, particularly through deep processing and the production of high-end products. Vietnam's tea industry, currently ranking 5th in exports and 7th in production, is located across 34 provinces and cities, with a focus on regions known for cooler climates. The country grows a diverse range of 170 tea varieties, including those favored for their unique flavors and health benefits, such as green tea, which is recognized for its cancer-prevention properties and other health advantages.
