Vietnamese fruits and vegetable exports have seen a significant increase of 24.3% in the first seven months, reaching a value of 3.83 billion USD. The Top 10 export markets have all shown double-digit growth, excluding the Netherlands. South Korea has recently agreed to import fresh grapefruit from Vietnam, and durian from the Central Highlands is expected to be exported to Thailand during its off-season. The fruit and vegetable industry is focusing on building brands and positions in the traditional Chinese market while expanding in Northeast Asia. China and South Korea are the largest fruit and vegetable export markets for Vietnam, accounting for 64% and 55% of the total export turnover respectively. The Plant Protection Department is also opening markets for various Vietnamese products in other countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and is negotiating exports to the EU and the US.
