Vietnam's meat imports increase but exports decrease in Q3

Although the import volume increased by 4.2% compared to the same period last year, the value decreased slightly by 0.8%. The largest meat suppliers to Vietnam in this quarter were India, the US, Russia, Poland, Australia, South Korea and Brazil. In particular, imports from some countries such as Australia, South Korea and the US grew strongly. Regarding pork alone, Vietnam imported 32,010 tons, worth 72.51 million USD in the third quarter. Compared to the second quarter, the import volume increased by 17%, while the value also increased by 18%. The average import price of pork in the third quarter reached 2,265 USD/ton, equivalent to about 57,000 VND/kg, lower than the current domestic price of live pigs (60,000-64,000 VND/kg). Brazil remains the largest market supplying pork to Vietnam, with 11,800 tons worth 28.04 million USD.
