The Rostov region's scientists are working on a program to improve the Don river, as it has reached a record low water level this autumn, leading to the drying up of many channels and streams. The low water level has impacted several farms and has also affected tourism and pastures. The cause of the shallow water is attributed to both a lack of rain and river pollution. The Regional Committee of Natural Resources is now accepting proposals to improve the Don's health and plans to submit them to Moscow for funding under the Ecology national project.
