Papaya and Thai jackfruit prices in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam have significantly increased due to decreased supplies and increased demand. The papaya price has risen from 3,000-4,000 VND / kg to 9,000-12,000 VND / kg, and Thai jackfruit price has tripled to 60,000 VND / kg for type 1 and 40,000 VND / kg for type 2. The increase in price is due to weather conditions, farmers' fear of food safety, and the end of other fruit harvest seasons. Despite the potential for price drops, the high profit margin makes Thai jackfruit farming profitable and popular, especially in flood control areas.
