The EU's MARS crop monitoring system has forecasted a record rapeseed harvest for Ukraine, expected to double and reach 5.47 million tonnes this year, a significant increase from the previous forecast of 3.04 million tonnes. This is due to an expansion in the planting of oilseed crops, which has resulted in a decrease in winter crops like soft wheat. Despite the challenges of the war with Russia, oil crops provide greater income to farmers. Additionally, the forecast also predicts a 29% increase in soybean crop and an 8% decrease in sunflower harvest compared to 2021, while the total wheat crop forecast has been revised upwards to 28.28 million tonnes.
