From December 1 to 16, the Russian Federation saw a 13.5% increase in wheat exports compared to the same period last year, shipping 1.765 million tons, as reported by the Russian Grain Union. This surge is attributed to importers' efforts to stock up before the anticipated introduction of an export quota in February 2025, particularly from Africa and Southeast Asia. While wheat exports rose, corn and barley shipments saw a decline. Pea exports experienced a 21% increase. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bangladesh, and Kenya were the leading buyers of Russian wheat. The export of grain and leguminous crops transited through 19 ports, a decrease from 23 the previous year. Iran was the leading exporter of corn and the largest buyer of barley.
