On March 26, 2024, Sri Lanka received its first shipment of Russian wheat in two years, totaling 75 thousand tons, from the Novorossiysk commercial seaport. This export, the first since 2021 when 54 thousand tons were shipped, was rigorously tested for quality and safety by the Novorossiysk branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Grain Quality Assessment Center”. The wheat was checked for toxic elements, mycotoxins, pesticides, radionuclides, among other quality indicators, leading to the issuance of a safety and quality certificate, a non-GMO certificate, and test reports. In the early months of 2024, Russia exported 5.4 million tons of wheat to 33 countries, all under the supervision of the same institution, highlighting its commitment to maintaining high standards in its agricultural exports.
