Brazil is one of the largest fruit producing countries in the world, with over 216 million inhabitants and a demand that keeps most of the production for the local market. Despite being the third largest producer globally, Brazil exports only 1.5-2% of its production, primarily to Europe. Climate change is posing a threat to the stability of fruit production. Despite challenges such as logistics and infrastructure, the fruit industry generates 5 million direct and indirect jobs and has potential for growth in value of exports.
