World Food Day invites us to reflect and raise awareness about the unprecedented challenges facing agrifood systems. Conflicts, extreme weather and climate phenomena, economic crises, and growing inequality are putting increasing pressure on arable land, water, and the biodiversity that sustains life. Supply chains continue to be fragile, and the effects of disruptions are already being felt in homes, markets, and fields around the world. This year, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the theme “Hand in hand for better food and a better future,” calls for international collaboration to build a peaceful, sustainable, prosperous, and food-secure future.
