Zernin, about the most promising African countries for grain exports from Russia

On the sidelines of the Russia-Africa forum, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Grain Exporters Eduard Zernin told the ROSNG agency about the main indicators of Russian grain exports to the "black continent": In total, 17.5 metric tons of grain were exported to Africa in the 2022/23 season, of which 16.5 million tons of wheat, which gives an increase of 63% compared to the previous season. Main partners: Egypt, Algeria, Libya, Sudan, Kenya. Each country has grain imports from Russia exceeding 1 million tons for the 2022/23 season. The countries of Islamic North Africa, which are part of the MENA region, are major buyers of grain on the world market and, with rare exceptions, consistently rank among our largest importers. The exception is Morocco and Tunisia. With the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa, everything is more fragmented.
