Description
The plantation area is in the suburbs of Cairo (approximately 30-40km outside the city) has a perfect climate for growing pomegranates. The weather during harvesting months starting from the end of July is very hot at 35-45 degrees and the fruits are exposed to 150 to 300 chilling hours during cooler winter climates which produce optimal yield. The soil in the plantation is rich in iron and there is a steady supply of freshwater which allows the fruits to grow readily. The production for this year looks especially promising, with an estimated harvest volume of 500 MT, as there was ample rain this season. Each fruit is hand-picked, and Cairo Farms uses a specially imported seaweed fertilizer as a big part of their production in order to grow sweeter, more organic fruits as well as maintaining an eco-friendly, sustainable growing process.
