Among the oil crops of Ethiopia, sesame seed commands a leading position because it is highly adapted to arid & semiarid low land environment and yields well. The best time for sowing period is found to be from the beginning of June to Mid July when cultivated as a rain-fed crop. The maturity of the crops depends on the weather condition and it usually takes from 90 days to 105 days to mature properly. The usual harvesting season is between Mid October to November. Harvesting begins when two-third of the plant and seed pods turn yellow. The average production facility of that company is 1000MT /year.
