Spain

Fewer Spanish Mandarin Available for Export Due to Low Production (Jan 4)

There is little room for expanding export markets for Spanish mandarins due to a significant drop in production, reaching 50% less in some regions compared to the 2021 season. The lower production volumes is accompanied by high demand from European markets and Canada, putting further pressure on already limited supplies. In W1 of 2023, the Nadorcott and Tango varieties' prices stood at USD 1.81-2.12/kg EXW Spain depending on quality and sizing.

Turkey

Harvesting of the Murcott Variety Mandarin Has Begun in W1 2023 in Turkey (Jan 3)

Harvesting of the Murcott variety has begun in the first week of 2023 in Turkey. Volume seems to be better compared to other varieties since Murcott is a late variety and was not affected by frost. In W1, the farmgate price stood at USD 0.59-0.64/kg, and the exporters' sales price was at USD 1/kg EXW. However, demand is low at the start of the year, but there is an expectation that demand will increase soon.
