Illinois Oat Yield Soared in 2023, Led by DeKalb County

In 2023, oat yields averaged 90 bushels per acre from 17 thousand harvested acres, totaling 1.53 million bushels in Illinois, United States (US). DeKalb County achieved an average of 108.6 bushels per acre from 5,100 harvested acres, producing 554,000 bushels. Meanwhile, Will County produced 42 thousand bushels with an average yield of 93.3 bushels per acre from 450 harvested acres. Comparatively, Illinois harvested 10 thousand acres of oats with an average yield of 71.1 bushels per acre in 2022, resulting in 830,000 bushels. Logan County recorded an impressive yield of 114.3 bushels per acre in 2022, while DeKalb County and Ogle County achieved averages of 104.8 and 104.2 bushels, respectively.

Turkiye’s 2023 Oats Production Surged 12.3% YoY

Turkey's cereal production for 2023 has surged by 9.1% year-on-year (YoY), reaching approximately 42.2 million metric tons (mmt), as the Turkish Statistical Institute reported. Oat production also experienced a notable increase, rising by 12.3% YoY to 410 thousand metric tons (mt).

Ukraine Introduced Licensing for Agricultural Exports, Including Oats

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a list of goods subject to licensing and quotas for 2024, as per Resolution No. 1402 dated December 27, 2023. Annex 4 of the resolution specifies that exports of various agricultural products, including wheat, rye, barley, oats, and corn, are subject to licensing.
