In W28 in the avocado landscape, the United States (US) has become the primary destination for Mexican avocado exports, purchasing 86% of the total volume. As agricultural operations in the US face increasing challenges, such as drought in California, the reliance on Mexico for avocados has continued to grow. Mexico dominates the global avocado market, representing 47.5% of total exports, valued at USD 3.49 billion in 2022. Of these sales, nearly USD 3 billion worth of avocados were destined for the US market.

During the fresh Peruvian avocado campaign, avocado shipments experienced a decline in W27 after almost eight months of fluctuating performance. There was a 12% decrease compared to the previous week, amounting to 25.93 thousand tons shipped. However, this figure was still 3% higher compared to the same period in 2022. The cumulative shipments for this campaign have reached 451.63 thousand tons, marking a 27% increase compared to the previous season.

During W28, among the 22 destinations receiving Peruvian avocados, the Netherlands, the US, and Spain emerged as prominent buyers, collectively accounting for 69% of all shipments. Furthermore, the Hass Avocado Producers Association of Peru (ProHass) has announced that Peruvian producers are preparing to make their initial avocado shipments to Malaysia within the next two months. The president of ProHass confirmed that the environmental certification required by the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) to enter the Malaysian market will be completed before the end of Q3-2023. On the other hand, Guatemala's agricultural exports reached USD 3.885 billion at the end of 2022, reflecting a 5% growth of USD 189 million. To further enhance fruit exports by 5%, Guatemala is focusing on initiatives such as the AGRITRADE Expo and Conference 2024 Fair. In 2022, the total foreign exchange from fruits amounted to USD 1.52 billion, with the key export destinations being the US, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and the United Kingdom (UK). Among the main fruit products exported, avocados generated USD 12 million in revenues, primarily reaching markets in the Netherlands, the UK, and Costa Rica.

Lastly, Moroccan avocado producers are optimistic about the upcoming harvest, expecting higher volumes than 2022. The president of the Moroccan Avocado Association has confirmed that the flowering phase, a critical stage in production, has been successful. This phase occurred between May and June, setting the stage for a promising avocado campaign in Morocco.
