In the United Kingdom (UK), a survey revealed a shift in planting intentions due to challenging autumn weather conditions, indicating increased areas allocated to spring wheat, spring barley, oats, fallow land, and other arable crops.

In W46 in the oats landscape, in its Nov-23 report, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) increased its earlier projection for global cereal production in the 2023/24 period by 3.3 million metric tons (mmt), reaching a total of 2.28 billion metric tons (mt). Notably, the oat production forecast remained nearly unchanged at 20.4 mmt.

Russian Grain Exports to Asia-Pacific

In Oct-23, the Primorsky Territory in Russia exported 124.8 thousand mt of grain and processed products to China, South Korea, and Vietnam. China emerged as the leading buyer among Asia-Pacific countries, purchasing significant quantities of soybean grain, corn, peas, wheat, barley, oats, wheat flour, and oat flakes. Meanwhile, grain exports to South Korea rose, with a preference for Russian wheat, oats, and flax.

Lastly, as of early Nov-23, Kazakhstan's grain reserves, reported by the Bureau of National Statistics, totaled 16.8 mmt, with oats accounting for 163.7 thousand mt of this reserve.
