Layman Schlissel Ltd. is a private family business that makes, imports, and distributes high-quality goods like chocolate, candies, waffles, chewing gum, bakery goods, and other food products. The company manufactures a variety of products under the "Kleit Gat" brand and acts as an exclusive importer and distributor for international companies like Luaker, Sturk, Perpeti-Van Mela, Kongra Hershey, and others that are guided by a differentiated marketing philosophy. The family's founder, Mr. Hirsch Layman, opened a wholesale trading house for chocolate and sweets in Berlin, Germany, in 1919, launching the company's long history. The businesses were relocated to Israel and adapted to the country's conditions when the family immigrated there in 1935. Mr. Baruch Layman, Hirsch's son, and Mr. Avraham Schlissel, Hirsch's brother-in-law, established a partnership in the sweets industry in 1954 and began importing in 1964. The two founding families of the Layman Schlissel group—the older generation and the younger generation—manage the company today, working together to enhance and expand it.
The Layman Schlissel Company targets both the organized and private markets. Through Van Sales system branches and wholesalers, the company can directly reach the nation's major points of sale and the smaller ones. The majority of the company's products are prominently displayed in the store's "hot" areas. Layman Schlissel's distribution system is tailored to the various levels of trade across the nation and the markets managed by its subsidiaries, PCMS, in collaboration with Palestinian partners working for full product distribution in the Palestinian market. About 500 people work for Layman Schlissel, and more than two-thirds of them are in the field: salespeople, flight attendants, brand-specific marketing teams, carriers, logistics personnel, and management
