Summary
Quinta do Portal is a family fine winemaking company that embraced with passion the “Boutique Winery” concept. Today we are the 5th generation of the Mansilha family producing wines in the Pinhão river valley.
The family has been producing Port wine in the Pinhão valley since 1881, but it has been in the Douro at least since 1477, when the King of Portugal D. Afonso V grants a portion of land (Comenda de Oliveira) to the noble D. Afonso de Mansilha. The adventure with the Douro wines started in 1994.
The vineyards are all located in the Pinhão river valley. The total area of vineyards is 104 hectares spread along the East and West banks of the river with altitudes ranging from 190 to 600m and almost all solar exposures, giving us a diversity of quality grapes to create exceptional wines.
