Prolonged rain in the Urals and Siberia negatively affected the volume and quality of grain crops but supported the development of oilseeds. Russia expects a record harvest of sunflower and rapeseed, while flax harvest will be lower. Ukraine also anticipates a record soybean harvest and high yields of other oilseeds. However, the large harvest poses a risk of lower prices for agricultural raw materials, impacting farmers and their earnings. Similarly, in Kazakhstan, the sunflower harvest is expected to be smaller, and flax yield will decrease. Farmers may not benefit from seed sales due to export duties and domestic processors not paying fair prices. The Kazakhstani industry associations of farmers are calling for a reduction in export duty to support farmers suffering losses.
