The surplus of kangkong and long beans in the market has brought down the price of these two commodities. Currently, kangkong is sold at IDR 1,500/Kg from its average price last week at IDR 2,500/Kg. Long beans are sold at IDR 2000/Kg, compared to its average price at IDR 3000/Kg the week prior. The surplus was partly caused by the high rate of rainfall that has happened in major vegetables producing provinces such as West Java and Central Java, which has forced the farmers in the regions to harvest a majority of their crops earlier and distribute them to the consumers quickly over concerns that excess water might damage their crops.
