Entering the halfway mark of 2020, the demand for aloe vera from the national market recorded a massive growth leap in comparison to the same period the year before. Most of the demand for this commodity has come from the national pharmaceutical company that uses aloe vera as one of the ingredients to make hand sanitizer which has been highly sought-after by consumers during the coronavirus pandemic. It is recorded that the total demand for aloe vera has grown to 180 KMT in the span of January to June 2020, a leap from 20 KMT last year, which has also come from the neighboring countries such as Malaysia and the Philippines. Nevertheless, despite the apparent demand from those countries, the aloe vera farmers tend to choose to prioritize the demand from the national companies by allocating almost their entire production volume to supply these companies.
