Cocoa compound manufacturers in Indonesia are currently trying to lobby the central government to reduce the entry fee and value-added taxes (VAT) for imported cocoa powder. Indonesian cocoa bean production output has been on a decreasing trend, while the demand for Indonesian cocoa bean is expected to increase by at least 20% by 2021. Thus, these Indonesian manufacturers need to complement the supply of their cocoa beans and cocoa powder from other countries in order to be able to continue producing their products at maximum capacity.
