India has rising imports for poppy seeds

The domestic production cost of Poppy seeds is very high because of which the country is witnessing a rise in imports. The cultivation process is restricted and highly regulated in India making it cheaper to import from outside
The seeds are mainly imported from Czechia and Turkey.
