Alfalfa exports have been banned by the Turkish government until further notice. The product is mainly used as an animal feed and the ban is instituted to keep the animal feed prices low in the country by increasing the available supply in Turkey. The government's end goal is to limit the production costs of animal farmers and consequently to prevent a price increase in main animal products such as beef and cow milk
