Less Supply due to Cold Weather Affects the Spanish Chili Pepper Price

The wholesale price of dried whole chili pepper in Spain increased by 47.17% YoY and 60% month-on-month in W2 Jan 2022. The price increased to USD 5.32 per kg in W2 Jan 2022, which was USD 3.63 per kg in the same period a year ago. Severe cold weather disrupted the Spanish dried chili pepper production and led to less supply. As a result, the price of dried chili pepper in Spain increased in W2 Jan 2022. At the same time, the export value of Spanish dried chili pepper also increase reflected an increase of +14.75% YoY to the US in the first ten months of 2021.
