The wholesale price of fresh dates (Aseel) in Pakistan continued to show weaker values throughout 2021. In Faisalabad, prices fell -15.07% YoY and fresh dates sold at 0.73 USD/KG in early December 2021. Meanwhile, the price declined by -26.74% YoY in Rawalpindi wholesale market, and fresh dates were only worth 0.64 USD/KG. Low consumer purchasing power since the pandemic has seen the market lose nearly half of its buyers from last year. Dates also imported from Iran have overlapped with local production which has also weakened prices in Pakistan.
