Chinese Import Regulation of Mackerel and Largehead Hairtail Lead to Price Reductions in Taiwan

The wholesale price of largehead hairtail in Taiwan decreased by 47.4% MoM in W1 Aug-22. The same price trend occurred in Taiwanese frozen mackerel, which fell by 58.3% MoM to USD 4.27/kg on Aug-22. The Chinese import regulation on Taiwanese largehead hairtail and frozen mackerel were due to COVID-19 detection on the packaging. As the supply meant for exports entered the domestic market, wholesale prices started to decrease in August 2022.
