Okra also known as 'Abelmoschus esculentus,' 'bhendi' or ladies finger is an important vegetable in tropical countries like India. Cooking releases a slimy juice which often works as a thickening agent. Baby corn or 'candle corn' is a young finger-like unfertilized cob of maize that is harvested early while the ears are very small and immature. It can be eaten raw or cooked.
