The Gold Medal is the award IIAC Tasters give to coffees that, after their tests, turned out to be top class. The judges work completely blindfolded in accordance with the most stringentsensory analysisstandards; at the end a score from 0 to 100 is given to each product. The awarding criterion is decided according to the number and the average quality of the samples received by the Institute during each edition: at the end of this session, as a very high number of very high-quality samples has been tested, the commission has decided to assign the Gold Medal only to coffees obtaining a score of 85/100or above in the maximum number accounting for the 25% of each tasting session ranking.
