The lockdown from coronavirus brought to the Italian products many problems at the borders, causing slowdowns or even blocks of goods both inbound and outbound.
In this context, it must be underlined that there are few products in which Italy is 100% self-sufficient and can rely on its national raw materials and without resorting to imports.
Wine, rice and mineral waters are the only products completely self-sufficient, while at the same time coffee, chocolate (90%), the fish preserves sector (95%) are completely dependent on foreign countries.
Dairy (just 14% imports) and processed fruit and vegetables (16%) have a good degree of self-sufficiency.
