Similar to rice, the Myanmar government has recently restricted the trading of palm oil for both exports and imports. The government is working with some organizations such as the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Myanmar Rice Federation and Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers’ Association to serve the national food plan. The plan is to push suppliers to sell palm oil to the domestic market first and to maintain the market price during the COIVD-19 pandemic situation. Exporters expect that they will not have much palm oil to export in the fiscal year of 2020.
