According to the Malaysian Fisheries Department, fishing using explosives such as fish bombs is not allowed at all in Malaysia. This is because the use of explosives to catch fish in the sea can destroy the corals that are the habitat of marine lives and their primary food source. This activity is illegal and affects the fishing industry. Since 2014 until 2019 more than 250 fish bomb cases have been reported in Malaysia.
