In Malaysia, it has been found that the method of growing bitter beans gives little cause for concern, as the collection of wild bitter beans is still active, particularly in Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, and several other states. Most of the fruits, which are mainly marketed as bitter bean products, are still collected from the nearby forests. The well-planned harvest for bitter beans in Malaysia is only about 100 ha. Among the many well-planned bitter bean crops in the state are Pahang, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Sabah, and Sarawak.
