A group of intendants from the province of Misiones, along with union entities, companies, and cooperatives from the tobacco sector, demanded that Governor Hugo Passalacqua evict a group of settlers who, since the beginning of this week, have been obstructing access to the main tobacco collection center in the province. What is curious is that this request for intervention by the security forces was disseminated by a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture and Production of the Province itself, “due to blockades that put at risk the start of collection scheduled for Monday, February 9, and the right to work of thousands of producer families.” The signatories asked the governor to intercede with the National Government, particularly with the ministries of Agriculture and Security, to guarantee the necessary conditions to work in peace, within the law, and with freedom.
