A report from the Buenos Aires Cereal Exchange shows that during the last 15 days of November, the barley harvest (destined for commercial grain) reached 10.1% of the suitable surface. The weekly average yield was 33.6 qq / Ha and the cereal has an accumulated production of 303K tons. The overall production projection remains steady at 3.7M tons in spite of the fact yields obtained were the worst in 5 years. The surveyed areas were the North Center of Córdoba and Santa Fe and both nuclei regions (Buenos Aires and La Pampa).
Jointly, Cordoba and Santa Fe have had an average yield of 19 qq / ha, representing a drop of -38.7% when compared to 2019/20 yields which were 31qq / Ha.
The North nuclei region's harvest advance is at 60% with an average yield of 25 qq / Ha, this, however, implies a -26.7% drop compared to the average yields of the last 5 campaigns. Regarding the South nuclei zone, the yields are in line with historical ones, but more than 24K hectares remain to be collected with yields expected to be close to 40qq / Ha.
In La Pampa and Buenos Aires, the vast majority of fields are still in the final stages of grain filling with good yield expectations. This region accounts for 85% of Argentina's 2020/2021 barley production.
