Ramadan fasting month will last until 22 April. The trade market and traditional market in Indoensia will see considerable decrease in both import and consumption, while specific products, such as specific spices, meat, sugar, flour, may rise.
In terms of fresh fruits sales, domestically grown banana, papaya, guava, watermelon, melon, cantaloupe will be dominated in traditional and modern market channels. However, fruit importers are convinced that imported apple, especially Fuji, from China would still sell well.
The retailers are unlikely to increase the price on consumer; will rather sell in a discount as spending has increased since week 13, and muslim families prepare for the Eid celebration. Modern market channels need steady supply of fuji apple and other imported apples and fresh fruits to keep visitors shopping at their stores.
