With lower production, final cotton stocks in MT should decrease by 14%

The new supply and demand estimate for cotton in Mato Grosso for the 2025/26 crop, released in December by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), projects a total supply of 3.47 million tons. The number represents a 1.23% decrease from the previous month and mainly reflects the revision in production, which was adjusted to 2.58 million tons—a 1.74% reduction compared to the monthly comparison. Despite the lower supply, domestic demand remained stable, estimated at 2.71 million tons, indicating a balance in internal consumption.
