Few Brazilian suppliers still hold some stock of last season's Anahi sesame variety ended in September. The variety was developed by Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) as a promise of high yield and sweet taste. The high yield came to fruition, but the flavor was between sweet and bitter. Among the other Brazilian varieties, the most appreciated for tahini sauce is 'Seda' sesame, which is much less preferred by farmers due to its low productivity, making it twice more expensive.
