Alckmin: government continues waiting for response from China on quota for meats

The vice president of the Republic and minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, said this Thursday, 12, that the Brazilian government continues to await a response from Chinese authorities to requests made to mitigate the effects of export quotas for meat to the Asian giant. China established that Brazil could export 1.1 million tons of meat to the country in 2026. Any excess quantity would be subject to an additional tariff. Last year, the country exported 1.7 million tons. According to Alckmin, the requests were for proteins shipped in 2025 not to count towards the quota, and for the "leftovers" in the quotas of countries that do not reach the limit to be allocated to Brazil.
