REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR — The Indonesian Plant Breeders Association (PERIPI) in collaboration with IPB University and PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO) officially held the Indonesian Breeder Award 2025, the highest appreciation event for plant breeders who have made significant contributions to national food security. Adopting the theme “Breeding is Giving”, the Indonesian Breeder Award 2025, or Indonesian Plant Breeders' Award, reaffirms that plant breeders are the heroes of Indonesia's food—they produce superior varieties that are real solutions for farmers and strengthen the nation's food security. Rector of IPB University and Head of BRIN, Professor Dr. Arif Satria, S.P., M.Si, in his speech said that currently Indonesia only has 1000 plant breeders, and only about 250 are active.
