The real dialogue on land reform may be postponed until 2026.

In his latest interview with the media, Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahkov announced that within two weeks the Advisory Council on Land Relations would be convened, where the department would present further changes to the Agricultural Land Ownership and Use Act (ALOUA). We all thought that these changes would address the highly contentious texts on whether one-year land use contracts should gradually become multi-year ones, as this issue of discord has accompanied all previous working meetings related to agricultural land use and future legislation. Unfortunately, it turns out that the department is considering new texts related to the use of land from the State Land Fund (SLF), that is, once again, someone somewhere is revising the main land law, contrary to the demands of real business to solve their main problem – with investments in irrigation and the possibility of multi-year use of properties.
