In the city of Bolu, Turkey, plans are underway to produce 150,000 turkeys for the New Year, a tradition that accounts for about 30% of the country's total turkey meat production. These New Year turkeys, specially raised, will be sold at an average price of 300 TL per kilo, cut into smaller sizes for easy consumption. The standard male and female turkeys are usually cut into 20 and 11 kilos respectively, but the New Year turkeys are smaller, weighing in at 7-8 kilos. Iskender Kesim, the live production manager, highlighted the nutritional benefits of turkey meat, such as its high protein content and low cholesterol and fat levels, and mentioned that the industry is expanding to meet the growing demand for turkey meat.
