A new agreement between Brazil and Argentina allows for the export of cabotiá pumpkins and other cucurbits from the Presidente Prudente region of São Paulo to Argentina. This requires new product certification procedures at the border, as part of the Risk Mitigation System (SMR) to manage the South American cucurbit fly. Local agricultural defense services and tax auditors are adjusting operations and phytosanitary measures to comply with the SMR, with support from the Federal Superintendence of Agriculture of São Paulo and the Agricultural Defense Coordination. Last year, São Paulo's production under the SMR amounted to approximately 4,612 tons.
