Mexico's animal protein production rose by 2.4% in the first 10 months of the year, reaching 20.1 million tons and valued at $22,495 million, marking a 22.4% increase from the previous year. However, the country experienced a deficit in apparent consumption, leading to an increase in imports of these foods. Total imports for the first 10 months of the year were 4.8 million tons, with a value of $5,603 million, while exports saw a decrease of 7%, totaling 570,000 tons and generating $2,785 million. Despite a slight decrease in exports, the national livestock sector is expected to end the year on a positive note with a 5% increase in international sales and production, reaching 24.3 million tons, while apparent consumption is projected to reach 29.3 million tons, a 2.1% increase from 2021.
