Chinese green kiwis are reaching record low prices in Vietnam, with a 10-kg box selling for VND200,000, or VND20,000 per kilogram. This is due to high yields, low labor costs, and advanced technology in China, which is the main grower of these kiwis. Meanwhile, kiwis from Australia and New Zealand are twice as expensive. Experts and industry representatives caution consumers to be wary of cheap fruits of unknown origin or poor quality. In the first 10 months of the year, Vietnam spent nearly 800 million USD importing agricultural products from China, a 24% increase from the same period last year.
