In 2022, Colombia imported over 72,589 tons of dairy products, marking a 19.5% increase from the previous year, despite a decrease in volume compared to the record-breaking year of 2020. The total cost of these imports reached USD 276,671,100, a 40% increase from two years prior. Whole powdered milk was the most imported product, followed by skim milk powder. The United States was the primary country of origin for these imports, contributing 49% of the total cost. The increase in dairy imports is attributed to a decrease in local production and a drop in international prices for whole and skimmed powdered milk.
